Were the incisive words of the historic leader of the Cuban revolution, Fidel while addressing the 1st Congress of the Cuban Communist Party(PCC) in 1975, 16 years following the triumph of the peoples revolution over the despicable and brutal US-backed puppet regime of Fulgencio Batista.
A sober reflection that recognized that the mere idea and liberating example of a victorious Cuban revolution, would represent for the struggling masses in the Latin American and Caribbean region, (the so-called backyard of the empire) absolutely terrified the Yankee ruling circles and explains why the US empire has unleashed the kind of economic and asphyxiated war against our sister country, unprecedented in its barbarity and cruelty in order to destroy the Cuban revolution.
On other hand no country in the world has resisted the most powerful empire known to mankind, located a mere 90 miles from its nearest border for over 6 decades, while achieving the kind human development indices and proletarian internationalism conduct, that serves as a beacon of hope to peoples that another world is possible away from disaster capitalism.
President Diaz Canel at the March of the Combative in Havana, recently, reminded the leaders of the empire of ‘how little they know the Cuban people, how much they still under estimate our patriotic and revolutionary convictions”.
Which were statements against the backdrop of the continuation of over 6-decade old illegal and criminal blockade that has been condemned by the vast majority of the world’s peoples, Cuba being placed on a spurious list of sponsor of state terrorism, which has the overall effect of hardening the blockade and a media campaign that would make the work of Goebbels of Hilter’s Third Reich, look like child’s play.
Our sister country Cuba, is not alone and in extending our heartfelt congratulations on the 66 anniversary of the triumph of the revolution, you can continue to count on the unconditional support of the solidarity movement of the Jamaican people, who alongside progressive humanity is confident of your victory as your cause is just.
