Harare, May 27, 2026 – Cuba's destiny belongs solely to its people, stated Zimbabwe's Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Professor Torerayi Moyo, today, in reference to reports of a possible US military aggression against the Caribbean island.
Cuba has been under US sanctions and blockade for decades, under constant threat, but continues with resilience and resistance in the face of imperialism, Moyo declared during the presentation of the book "The Power of the People" by Dr. Norbert Hosho.
Before an audience of approximately one hundred people, including Ambassador Susellys Pérez Mesa, the Minister highlighted the role of the Caribbean nation in achieving Zimbabwe's independence and the liberation of Africa.
Minutes earlier, Pérez Mesa denounced the intensification of Washington's hostility toward Cuba, which adds to the nearly seven-decade-long economic blockade, the total energy embargo, and the possibility of direct military aggression.
She also emphasized that the island does not pose a threat to the United States, reaffirmed the Cuban people's determination to defend their homeland, and called for mobilization in support of the Caribbean nation and to prevent actions with unpredictable consequences.
In her remarks, the Ambassador spoke about resilience and resistance from a Cuban perspective, drawing on the philosophy promoted by the President of Zimbabwe, Dr. Emmerson D. Mnangagwa, that "a country is built by its citizens," the essence of the book presented in Harare.
