Minister of Agriculture of Antigua and Barbuda Travels to Cuba

St. John's.9 May 2018. At noon today, the Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Barbuda Affairs, Hon. Dean Jonas, will arrive in Havana. The minister also occupies a seat in the Lower Chamber of the parliament of the sister Caribbean Island, representing St. Georges, after the governing ABLP Party was re-elected in the general elections held on March 21st.
Prior to his departure to Havana, the minister discussed with Cuba's ambassador Gustavo Véliz Olivares, the options of the program that he will complete in Havana in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and other Cuban entities. During the stay in Cuba, they will visit the "Los Naranjos" Genetic Enterprise, the Porcine Research Institute and other centers of interest.
Antigua has shown interest in the development of its local agriculture sector and has expectations of greater apicultural and livestock development with the help of Cuban collaborators. Joining Minister Jonas are Ambassador Daven Joseph and Deputy Director of Agriculture Mrs. Cheryl Edwards
