Kingston, August 30, 2023.- In an atmosphere of cordiality and cooperation, the Cuban ambassador to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, paid a courtesy call to by the to the Honourable Floyd Green, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining.
In the meeting in which other senior officials of the aforementioned institution were present, the status of cooperation projects between the two countries in the field of agriculture, aimed at promoting food security and sustainable development objectives, was evaluated.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat reiterated Cuba's commitment to promote the widest possible cooperation between Cuba, Jamaica and the CARICOM nations in the agricultural sector, at the same time that he denounced the disastrous effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the government of the United States of America on the development plans of the Antillean Island.
Minister Green, for his part, supported the need to increase bilateral cooperation beyond traditional spaces and suggested advancing in research, training and the formation of human resources, and reaffirmed Jamaica's rejection of the blockade policy towards Cuba. (Embacuba Jamaica)
