Banjul, May 15, 2017. The Minister of Agriculture of The Gambia, Hon. Omar A. Jallow, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Lázaro Herrera Martínez, on Thursday
morning, May 11 at the Ministry's headquarters.
During the cordial meeting the Cuban diplomat congratulated the new minister for his appointment as head of this ministry and expressed the willingness of the Cuban government to work for the strengthening of bilateral ties in all possible
sectors, including agriculture.
The Gambian minister, for his part, stressed the support provided by the Caribbean island to other African nations and particularly to his country. He also acknowledged the progress made by Cuba in sectors of vital importance such as education, health, science and technics, despite the strong external pressures it has had to face. He also expressed interest in taking advantage of the Cuban experience particularly in the agricultural sector.
