BANGKOK, September 6, 2017.- The Cuban Ambassador to Thailand, Héctor Conde Almeida, was welcomed by the Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Thailand, S.E. Teerakiat Jaroensettasin, who had words of admiration for Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
In the cordial meeting the good path of bilateral relations was confirmed and the mutual will to continue strengthening them was reiterated, with special reference to the historical significance of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries to be celebrated in May 2018.
The Minister praised Cuba's achievements in education, health, science, tourism, culture and sports. He expressed satisfaction with the ongoing actions and the development potential of mutual cooperation, especially highlighting the advances in joint initiatives related to biotechnological applications for the benefit of both peoples. Both sides agreed on the importance of promoting South-South cooperation and the fulfillment of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The Cuban diplomat invited the Minister to participate with a delegation at the international meeting "UNIVERSITY 2018", scheduled to be held in Havana in February of that year, which was considered as an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences in the field of education .
The Cuban Ambassador thanked the Government and people of Thailand for their support for the United Nations Resolution on the need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States Government against Cuba and conveyed congratulations on the enactment, on April 6th, 2017, of the Constitution no. 20 of Thailand since the transformation in 1932 of the absolute Monarchy in constitutional Monarchy.
