Kingston, Jamaica, 6 February 2019. H.E. Mrs. Ines Fors Fernandez, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Jamaica, paid a call of courtesy on the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, at the Ministry’s headquarters this morning.
At the meeting with the Jamaican Minister, several topics of common interest were discussed, such as the project to build the Regional School of Arts of the Caribbean in Jamaica, an initiative developed during the Fifth Cuba-CARICOM Summit, held in Havana on December 8, 2014.
The meeting was a favorable scenario to address other issues on the bilateral agenda, including the process for a renewal of the education agreement between the Ministries of Education of Cuba and Jamaica.
The Cuban ambassador also took the opportunity to express her gratitude to the Jamaican authorities for the messages of condolences and solidarity with Cuba, issued on the occasion of the tornado that affected the largest island of the Antilles on January 27.
The exchange took place within a cordial climate of mutual respect.
