Minister of Foreign Affairs Travels to Cuba

St. Johns, May 7, 2018. The Ambassador of Cuba, Gustavo Veliz Olivares, said goodbye today at the V.C. Bird International Airport to Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Immigration, who traveled to the 21st Meeting of the Council of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean (COFCOR), which is being held in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, and who will later attend the 37th session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) that will take place in Havana until May 11. The Minister expressed his satisfaction at attending the important biennial meeting of ECLAC and sharing on the challenges facing the Caribbean in the current international context, particularly in the financial field and in the face of threats posed by climate change.
During the conversation, the minister also reaffirmed his interest in strengthening and expanding the close relations that exist between Cuba and Antigua and Barbuda, neighboring Caribbean nations, which just celebrated 24 years since the formal establishment of diplomatic relations in April 1994.
