The Minister of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ogtay Shiraliyev, thanked today in Baku the presence of the Medical Brigade in his nation and stressed that the treatment methods of Cuban doctors have allowed positive results.
The statements of the health minister of this Caucasian nation were made during a meeting with the Cuban ambassador, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo and Professor Dalsy Torres Ávila, head of the Cuban Medical Brigade that has been on mission in Azerbaijan for a month.
Shiraliyev became interested in the Cuban drugs that are used to combat C0VID -19 in its different stages.
Likewise, he highlighted the fraternal relations between Cuban and Azeri specialists.
For his part, Ambassador Nieves Portuondo valued the potential that exists to develop cooperation in the fields of medicine and biotechnology between both nations.
Likewise, the head of the Cuban Medical Brigade, Dalsy Torres Ávila, explained that the joint work between specialists from the two countries has allowed the achievements experienced in the treatment of patients with coronavirus at Hospital No. 1 in Baku.
Torres Ávila, at the request of the Azerbaijani counterpart, explained the production of national medicines that are used in the COVID-19 treatment protocol.
At the meeting, both parties agreed that the presence of 115 Cuban health specialists in Azerbaijan constitutes the first link in bilateral cooperation and that the work of the International Contingent of Specialized Doctors in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics "Henry Reeve" strengthens friendship and solidarity relations between Azerbaijan and Cuba.
