Kingston, Jamaica, November 30th, 2017. As an important and noble task with a tremendous social impact, qualified the Minister of Health of Jamaica, Dr. Christopher Tufton, the work carried out by the Cuban Medical Brigade.
During a courtesy visit by the Ambassador of Cuba, Inés Fors Fernández, the Jamaican official praised also the importance of Operation Miracle in Jamaica, a program within which thousands Jamaican patients have recovered their sight.
Likewise, Dr. Tufton highlighted the kindness of the Government of Cuba that each year grants scholarships to Jamaican youth to study specialities related to Medical Sciences in Cuba.
Both authorities coincided on the need to continue exploring for new areas of collaboration within the framework of the bilateral agreement for cooperation in the area of health.
Near 200 Cuban health professionals work in Jamaica distributed in all the regions.
The Cuban Ambassador reiterated the willingness of her Government and people to continue supporting the sister Caribbean nation in an area with a great social impact.
The diplomat also stressed the permanent support and gratitude of the people of Jamaica for the work carried out by Cuban doctors, nurses and specialists.
The meeting, held at the venue of the Ministry of Health, was also attended by Rowena Palmer, officer at the Departmento of International Cooperation of that institution, and Hector Ferrer Musterlier, Coordinator of the Cuban Medical Brigade.
