Kingston, 21 January 2025. The Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce of Jamaica, the Honourable Aubyn Hill, received the Cuban trade delegation comprising Cristina Ramos Moreno, Director General of Foreign Investment of the Ministry of Foreign Trade (MINCEX); Ana Teresa Igarza, Director General of the Mariel Special Development Zone and Renan Hernandez, Vice President of Business of the International Finance Bank, accompanied by the Ambassador of Cuba in Jamaica, Fermin Quiñones Sanchez.
During the meeting, the parties recognised the professionalism of trade and investment institutions existing in both nations, as well as the business opportunities between the two countries. The occasion was propitious to present proposals aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, and to extend to the Minister and the directors of Jamaican agencies present, an invitation to participate in the Havana International Fair FIHAV 2025.
The Cuban Ambassador thanked the Minister, in his capacity as Senator and member of the parliamentary group of friendship with Cuba, for the permanent support of the Jamaican government and legislature in the struggle for the elimination of the blockade and the exclusion of our country from the unilateral list of states that allegedly sponsor terrorism, recognising the negative effect on the full development of bilateral trade and its extraterritorial nature.
Minister Hill was accompanied by executives of the Jamaica Special Development Zone Authority, JAMPRO and Eximbank.
