Minister for Local Government and Rural Development of Ghana receives the Cuban Ambassador

Hon. Hajia Alima Mahama, Minister for Local Government and Rural Development of Ghana, received the courtesy call on her paid by the Ambassador of Cuba, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, who presented her with a collaboration project of the Cuban construction company UNECA S.A.

In welcoming the Ambassador, the Minister referred to the six decades of relations and emphasized the work of Cuban doctors in rural Ghana. The Ambassador, after reiterating Cuba's commitment to the people of Ghana, announced that in the current year, more than two hundred new Ghanaian doctors will complete their medical studies in Cuba.

Ms. Alima Mahama is a member of the Parliament of Ghana for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), and her constituency is located in the new East North region, created following the referendum held in December 2018, and where the population approved the creation of six new regions, which is why today Ghana has 16 regions.

She was accompanied by the Deputy Ministers, Mr. Augustine Collins Ntim and Mr. Kwasi Boateng Adjei, both also members of Parliament; Mr. Frank Raji, one of the Directors of the Ministry; Mr. Owusu Ansah, in charge of Public Relations; Mrs. Henrietta Lamptey, Personal Assistant to the Minister. The First Secretary of the Cuban Embassy, Julio César Sánchez was also in the meeting.
