KINGSTO, JAMAICA, September 14th, 2016.During this afternoon, September 14th, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information of Jamaica, Floyd Green, welcome a Cuban delegation from the Ministry of Education, headed by Mijail Benavides, head of Cooperation at the Department of International Relations, and Cuban Ambassador, Bernardo Guanche Hernandez.
During the meeting, the Minister of State referred to the important work carried out by the Cuban collaborators in Jamaica in the area of Education, which is extended to all the regions of this nation. The senior official highlighted the contribution to the learning of Spanish by 52 Cuban teachers, which is a priority to Jamaican authorities.
Likewise, Green appealed to increase the collaboration with Cuba both in the area of Education and others related to the work of his ministry.
During the meeting, the Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Ruel Reid, welcomed the Cuban delegation. In a brief exchange, the minister expressed his appreciation to Cuban cooperation. Ambassador Bernardo Guanche thanked for the welcoming conveyed to the new Cuban teachers who recently arrived in Jamaica.
Both parts stated the willingness to strengthen the cooperation in education under which 52 Cuban teacher work at 50 schools all over Jamaica. The parts also ratified the compromise to renew the bilateral agreement for the Technical Cooperation and Academic Professional Assistance.
The meeting, that also served to express the excellent level of the bilateral relations, was attended by the outgoing head of the Educational Brigade, Rafael Muniz Guillen, and the designated Coordinator, Santo Omar Varona Caballero, as well as the head of Cooperation at the Embassy, Mabel Rodriguez Morera.
