Minister of State receives the Ambassador of Cuba
SRI LANKA, February 28, 2020. - The Minister of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, Honorable Susil Premajayantha, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Juana Elena Ramos Rodríguez, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, both parties exchanged on issues of bilateral and multilateral interest, as well as reiterating their interest in continuing to strengthen relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador offered the Minister of State updated information on the effects caused to the people of Cuba by the measures of the blockade adopted by the United States Government during 2019 and so far in 2020; she also thanked the traditional support provided by the Government and people of Sri Lanka to the battle to put an end to this unfair policy against Cuba.
The Honorable Susil Premajayantha is also the President of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba.
At the meeting also were present Ms. Maneesha Gunasekera, Director General for Latin America of the Foreign Ministry and Raúl Filgueras Rivero, Counselor of the Cuban Mission.
