The Honourable Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, Minister for Youth and Sports of the Republic of Ghana received in his office’s the Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana, Pedro Luis Despaigne González.
During the fraternal meeting the parties discussed about the situation of the sports in both countries. The Ghanaian Minister stressed the importance of training at the base with young people, and qualified that method as the main route for developing the sport, while the Ambassador of Cuba referred to the historical results of Ghanaian boxing in several international events.
The Minister for Youth and Sport requested the presence of Cuban coaches, especially in boxing and notified that the best results of his country in this sport were achieved under the leadership of a Cuban specialist.
The Ghana Boxing Federation´s President, Mr. Gideon K. Quartey, and the First Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba, Julio Cesar Sanchez Martinez, also attended at the meeting.
