Havana, December 23, 2024.- With a political-cultural event headed by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and president of the Republic, the 65th anniversary of the constitution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba was commemorated this Monday at the Palace of Conventions.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, highlighted in his speech: "We arrive at this 65th anniversary proud of having participated in the defense and international projection of a cause as just as the Cuban Revolution, of being heirs to the teachings of Fidel and Raúl, of representing a dignified, self-sacrificing and indomitable people, and of having their respect and support."
The Cuban Foreign Minister recounted the main moments in the more than six decades of revolutionary diplomacy and emphasized the importance of continuing to be involved in tasks within the country.
He stressed that in the face of the hostility of US imperialism, the firmness of the Cuban people and the greatness of the work that has been built will continue to prevail.
For his part, President Díaz-Canel, when delivering the central remarks of the event, highlighted the trajectory of Cuban foreign policy since 1959 and referred to the main problems of the scenario in which it is currently developing and those that will be faced in the future.
On behalf of the Party and the government, he conveyed congratulations to MINREX on this new anniversary.
Hours earlier, through his account on X, the President expressed: "I ratify the trust placed in you and the deep recognition for such a meritorious and effective service record, which fills our people with pride and exalts the name of Cuba in any corner of the world," he concluded.
The Entrevoces Choir, directed by Maestro Digna Guerra and Maestro Frank Fernández, performed at the event with interpretations of Cuban pieces.
Also present were Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power; Manuel Marrero Cruz, prime minister; other members of the Political Bureau and the Central Committee, ministers and representatives of agencies of the Central State Administration and national entities, as well as officials and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its affiliated entities, family members and retirees.
