Bangkok, March 23, 2020.- The Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Kingdom of Thailand, U Myo Myint Than, met with the concurrent Ambassador of Cuba to Myanmar, Héctor Conde Almeida.
Both sides recognized the good state of bilateral relations and reiterated the mutual willingness to continue strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two peoples and governments.
The auspicious occasion enabled an in-depth review of the on-going bilateral cooperation actions between Myanmar and Cuba in different fields of activity. Their relevance was assessed as a meaningful contribution to the successful implementation of national development strategies; to the promotion of South-South cooperation, as well as to the achievement of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of joint efforts in defense of the unity, dignity and sovereignty of developing countries and of maintaining close cooperation in various multilateral fora.
The Cuban diplomat thanked H.E. Ambassador U Myo Myint Than, the government and people of Myanmar, for their continued support to the United Nations Resolution on the need to end the 60-years-old economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba.
