MYANMAR, April 6, 2018.- The Minister of Health and Sports of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Dr. Myint Htwe, welcomed in Nay Pyi Taw the Ambassador of Cuba, Hector Conde Almeida.
In the cordial meeting, both sides acknowledged the good path of bilateral relations and reiterated the mutual will to continue strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between both nations.
The Minister confirmed his attendance at the International Convention "Cuba-Health 2018", which will be held in Havana from April 23 to 27, in the first historical participation of that country in this type of events in the largest of the Antilles. The conclave was valued as an excellent opportunity for the exchange of experiences and for the identification of bilateral and triangular cooperation actions.
The Minister and the Cuban diplomat expressed satisfaction for the registration in Myanmar of two Cuban biopharmaceuticals for medical treatments against cancer and highlighted the potential of cooperation in the field of health within the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Both sides agreed on the importance of the promotion of South-South cooperation and the fulfillment of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
