Nachito Herrera delivers a donation of musical instruments to the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory

The Cuban musician living in the United States Ignacio (Nachito) Herrera gave the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory, in Havana, a donation of musical instruments to contribute to the development of artistic education in the country where he was trained as a musician.

A new bridge of love is built by the Cuban pianist and composer, who has lived in the US for more than 20 years, and is visiting Cuba to participate in the 37th edition of the 2022 Jazz Plaza International Festival.
In addition to musical instruments for the art education system, donations include medical supplies to support the fight against COVID-19 for health institutions.

To students and professors of the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory, he delivered clarinets, flutes, and technological equipment for teaching music.

With special pleasure, the notable artist enjoyed a rehearsal by the Jazz Band of the Conservatory, directed by Enrique Rodríguez Toledo.

The youth group, founded in 2014, has been recognized in important international competitions such as the Essentially High School Competition and Festival in the United States, organized by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and in 2019 was nominated for the Latin Grammys at the Traditional Music category for the album "Vereda Tropical", from the record label of the Music Recordings and Editions Company, EGREM.

Nachito Herrera confessed that he felt happy to share the stage with the Jazz Band from the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory on Sunday, January 23, at the Castillo de San Salvador de la Punta in the country's capital.

At the Cuba Vive concert, the young musicians will perform, among other pieces, "West Side Latin Jazz", composed by Nachito Herrera, and the arrangement that the notable pianist made of the song "I'm going to Puerto Padre", by Emiliano Salvador.

During the visit to the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory, Ignacio Herrera was accompanied by his producer and president of the Herrera-González Company, Mrs. Aurora González, the director of the Minnesota Symphony Marlene Pauley and the President of the ARTIDEA Company, from the United States, Shelly Quiala.

At the meeting, it was revealed that a piano and furniture for the assembly of a concert hall at the Amadeo Roldán will be added to the donation delivered this Thursday, January 21.

The new space will bear the name of Roberto Chorens to evoke the memory of the man who directed the Conservatory for years and was an indispensable figure in the musical formation of Nachito Herrera.
While the 37th edition of the 2022 Jazz Plaza International Festival continues in Havana, Ignacio (Nachito) Herrera stops at the Amadeo Roldán elementary and middle school to build a new bridge of love between Cuba and the United States.
