Namibian Vice President receives Cuban Ambassador

Most Honourable Lucía Witbooi, Vice President of the Republic of Namibia, received Cuban Ambassador Sergio Vigoa de la Uz.

During the meeting, held in an atmosphere of brotherhood and cooperation, the diplomat thanked the African leader, on behalf of the Cuban people and government, for Namibia's continued support in international forums against the United States blockade of Cuba and the island's inclusion on the list of alleged sponsors of terrorism.

The Vice President alluded to the role of the largest of the Antilles in the fight for Namibian independence and expressed that her country reciprocates Cuba's ongoing cooperation, which is currently reflected in the contribution of health professionals and other important sectors linked to the quality of life of Namibians.

The also member of the Political Bureau and the Central Committee of the SWAPO Party, expressed her satisfaction at confirming the excellent cooperative relations between the two nations and reaffirmed that it is the duty of the Namibian government to always strengthen the strong and close historical ties that unite us.

The ambassador gave the Vice president a letter of invitation to visit Cuba from Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa, whom she deeply thanked for her interest in visiting the country with which Namibia has built a long history of solidarity.
