Namibia's Minister of Sports, Youth and National Service receives the Cuban Ambassador.

Namibia, October 26, 2020- The Minister of Sports, Youth and National Service of Namibia, Hon.. Agnes Tjongarero, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Sidenio Acosta, at the headquarters of that organization.

Both reviewed the excellent state of cooperative relations in the field of sport, developed between the governments of Cuba and Namibia for nearly three decades. They highlighted the outstanding results obtained, including several gold medals, obtained by Namibian disabled athletes in different Paralympic Games, trained by Cuban experts.

Ambassador Acosta reiterated Cuba's willingness to continue cooperating with Namibia in this and other areas, despite the strengthening of the United States' economic, commercial and financial blockade.

The Minister expressed her gratitude to the Cuban diplomat for Cuba's historic cooperation with Namibia, which began in the 1960s. She reaffirmed her government's interest in continuing to strengthen those historic ties. She also condemned the US genocidal policy against the Cuban people.

The meeting was also attended by the Executive Director of the Namibian Ministry, Sivute Katamba, along with other officials of that institution. On the Cuban side, Aldo Fuentes, Second Secretary of the Mission, and Juan Carlos Oliva, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Cuban Embassy, also attended.
