National Democratic Congress ratifies its solidarity with Cuba

A representation of the leadership of the National Democratic Congress party (NDC), led by its General Secretary, Mr. Johnson Asiedu-Nketia, paid a visit to the Cuban embassy in Accra, where they were received by the Ambassador of Cuba, Pedro Luis Despaigne González.

The Cuban diplomat highlighted the historical ties between Cuba and Ghana, emphasizing the 60 years of diplomatic relations to celebrate this year, and how Cuba maintains its commitment to cooperate with Ghana in the training of its human resources, mainly highly qualified medical doctors. In that sense, he made reference to the more than two hundred young people who will return well trained in Cuban classrooms as doctors, and to the two hundred new ones that recently arrived in the island. He also updated the visitors in the new anti-Cuban escalation of the ruling team in the United States with the resurgence of the blockade and the application of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act.

The Secretary General of the NDC, for his part, ratified the friendship of his party with Cuba and with the Communist Party of Cuba, and explicitly rejected the blockade, and the new measures adopted by the US administration.

The delegation of the NDC, was also integrated by Mr. Alex Segbefia, Director of International Relations; Mr. Nana Ato Dadzie, former Chief of Staff of former President Rawlings; Mr. Kakra Esamuah, Director of Communications; Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, former Minister of Youth and Sports; Dr. Karl Mark Arhin, Deputy Director of International Relations; Mr. Asare Gyamah, legal counsel for the party. The First Secretary of the Embassy, Julio César Sánchez, also participated in the meeting.
