National Report on the Impact of the US Government's Blockade on Cuba Presented

Vientiane, September 17 The Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, presented the National Report on the impact of the blockade (March 2024–February 2025) to the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Havana. This report shows that the economic, commercial, and financial blockade constitutes the central axis of the policy of maximum pressure against Cuba, seeking to suffocate its economy, generate shortages, and discontent. The US remains committed to overthrowing the Cuban Revolutionary Government.

Between March 2024 and February 2025, the US administration maintained the rigorous application of the laws and practices of the blockade, with actions aimed at surgically and systematically identifying, pursuing, and eliminating the main sources of income for the Cuban economy. All of this represents an approximate impact of more than $629,675,000 per month, more than $20,701,644 per day, and more than $862,568 in damages for each hour of the blockade.

At current prices, the accumulated damages over more than six decades of this policy amount to $170,677.2 million. Taking into account the behavior of the dollar against the value of gold on the international market, the blockade has caused quantifiable damages of $2,103,897 million.

The most severe measures were Cuba's continued inclusion on the unilateral list of countries alleged to be sponsors of terrorism; its reinstatement on the list of countries that do not fully cooperate with the U.S. government's anti-terrorism efforts; the possibility of filing lawsuits in U.S. courts under Title III of the Helms-Burton Act [Cuban Liberty and Democratic Solidarity Act]; sanctions or threats against shipping companies, transporters, insurance companies, or reinsurers involved in the supply of fuel to Cuba; the persecution of Cuban financial transactions for the supply of essential resources; as well as the continuation of other unilateral listings.

The genocidal blockade constitutes a flagrant violation of human rights, the main obstacle to the country's development, and must cease as demanded and condemned by the overwhelming universal outcry.
