National Secretary of the ZANU-PF Women's League receives the Ambassador of Cuba

Harare, April 8, 2026 - The Ambassador of Cuba in Zimbabwe, Her Excellency. Mrs. Susellys Pérez Mesa, today held a fruitful meeting with members of the Secretariat of the Women's League of the ZANU-PF party, chaired by the National Secretary of the Organization, Mabel Chinomona.

During the exchange, the diplomat shared relevant information about the participation of women in the society of the Caribbean island, highlighting the progress made in terms of gender equality, as well as the role of the Federation of Cuban Women in the promotion and defense of women's rights, since its creation, as well as the legal framework that has complemented it.

The Ambassador also referred to the current state of relations between both countries, highlighting the historical ties of friendship and cooperation that unite them.

Likewise, he addressed the effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba, as well as the recent escalation of aggression by the current US administration, which greatly affects the development of the people, especially women.

For their part, the members of the Women's League expressed their deep affection and admiration for the Antillean nation and reiterated their firm support for the fight against the blockade.

At the meeting, Chinomona, also President of the Senate, offered an explanation on the structure, functioning and main lines of work of the Women's League, highlighting the government's initiatives and programs towards the economic empowerment of Zimbabweans.

The meeting, which was attended by Second Secretary Zailin Gaulhiac, and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ZANU-PF Foreign Affairs Secretariat, took place in an atmosphere of cordiality and reaffirmed the will of both parties to continue strengthening ties of solidarity and cooperation.
