New Ambassador of Cuba presents Letters of Credence to the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States

The Presentation Ceremony for the new Cuban Ambassador took place at the Office of the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States, located in Saint Lucia; he delivered his Letters of Credence to the Director General, Dr. Didacus Jules, which accredit and confirm him as Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Organization. In his welcome remarks, the top dignitary of the distinguished authority of the Eastern Caribbean gave a warm fraternal welcome to the Cuban diplomat and highlighted the traditional friendly relations with Cuba. He also expressed his invariable opposition to the Blockade against the island and pointed out Cuba’s generous solidarity with the Caribbean which has significantly contributed to the development of its human resources, particularly in the areas of health, sports and culture.  He reminded those present that history has shown Cuba’s contribution at the end of apartheid in Africa and the liberation of this continent, and he stated that, at this era in time, the Caribbean was honored to have been by Cuba’s side in the most difficult moments of the Battle of Cuito Canavale, to facilitate the transfer of Cuban troops through Barbados and Guyana, in order to ensure the final victory.  Finally, he reaffirmed the unnegotiable solidarity with the Government and people of Cuba. For his part, the Cuban Ambassador highlighted Cuba’s willingness to continue strengthening relations with the Organization and its member countries and in particular, the principles of solidarity, friendship and cooperation, with which the historic leader of our Revolution, Fidel Castro, built Cuba’s excellent bilateral relations with the region.
