New Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Cuba presents his Letter of Credence

Oslo, September 19, 2024. The Vice President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, received the Letters of Credence of nine new ambassadors in a ceremony held on the morning of this Wednesday the 18th, at the Palace of the Revolution. Among them was His Excellency Mr. John Petter Opdahl, who is the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Cuba.

This is the second time that John Petter Opdahl is accredited as ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Cuba. He had already served in the same role in the Island between 2011 and 2016, a period that he recalled with great pleasure. The Norwegian diplomat expressed his willingness to work to expand the ties with Cuba. He recalled that both countries were guarantors of the peace talks in Colombia and that they have worked together to protect the agreements that were reached in the Cuban capital.

The Cuban Vice President thanked the new ambassadors for their support for Cuba's fight against the US blockade and other unjust unilateral coercive measures, and assured them that they can always count on the support of the Cuban authorities for the successful performance of their missions.

The ceremony was attended by the Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
