New Areas of Zimbabwe-Cuba Educational Cooperation Identified

Harare, April 9, 2025— The Cuban Ambassador, Her Excellency Susellys Pérez Mesa, and the Vice-Rector of the Bindura University of Educational Sciences, Prof. Eddie Mwenje, today identified new areas to strengthen ties between the Caribbean nation and the Zimbabwe Center for Advanced Studies.

The diplomat and senior management of the institution, located approximately 90 kilometers south of this capital, highlighted the traditional educational cooperation between Cuban institutions and the interest in strengthening them.

Several professors and doctors of science from the Caribbean country contribute to the training of professionals at this University in various specialties with tangible and highly useful results, Mwenje stated.

Pérez Mesa expressed her gratitude for the Vice-Rector's recognition and the educational institution's willingness to count on other professionals as a guarantee of the preparation of professionals for Zimbabwe.

The lively discussion served to design a medium-term roadmap for important areas of teaching, communication, health, physical education, and sports.

The Ambassador and Mwenje agreed on the need for a comprehensively prepared new generation and the use of science to address the challenges and aspirations of both nations.

The fruitful exchange included remarks by the head of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Zimbabwe, Dr. María Eugenia García, and Minister Counselor Luis Enrique González Acosta.

The Bindura University of Educational Sciences, one of the most important in this African country, has been a pioneer in decades of educational cooperation with Cuba.
