Suva, August 20, 2026. - Cuban Ambassador to Fiji, Néstor Torres, held a cordial meeting in Suva with renowned journalist Felix Chaudhary, general manager at the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC). The aim of the meeting was exploring avenues for cooperation in the field of communication and information exchange, promoting a better understanding of the reality of Cuba in Fiji, and strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two nations.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit the FBC offices. He also spoke about his country’s historic ties of cooperation with Fiji, particularly in the areas of health and human resources training. In addition, he provided an updated overview of the situation in his country, which is marked by economic challenges and the impact of the US blockade.
For his part, the FBC executive acknowledged the importance of this collaboration, with both parties agreeing to keep communication channels open and explore future avenues for disseminating content that reflects the cooperation and solidarity between the two peoples.
FBC is Fiji’s public broadcasting corporation. The organization operates multiple radio, television, and digital media platforms in three languages (English, Hindi, and Fijian), serving as a fundamental pillar of information in the country. It provides national coverage on television, radio, and digital platforms of the most relevant events.
The corporation operates from its headquarters in Suva through the following channels: FBC TV, a free-to-air channel that broadcasts news and entertainment; and radio stations, including six leading stations such as Radio Fiji One (iTaukei), Radio Fiji Two (Hindustani), Gold FM, Bula FM, 2day FM, and Mirchi FM. It also features FBC News, the flagship news service of the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation.
