In an official ceremony held last Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Government House in the city of Auckland, Ambassador Luis Ernesto Morejón Rodríguez presented to Her Excellency, the Right Honorable Dame Cindy Kiro, Governor General of New Zealand, the credentials that accredit him as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba.
During the cordial exchange, the Ambassador ratified Cuba's will to continue promoting solidarity, cooperation and integration to strengthen bonds between our countries.
It was also a great oppotunity for the Cuban representative to convey greetings from the Cuban people and government to the people and government of New Zealand, and to wish for the prosperity and personal well-being of His Majesty, King Charles III, and His Excellency Cindy Kiro.
Governor General welcomed the Cuban diplomat, on which occasion she thanked President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez for his cordial greetings.
Her Excellency highlighted the constructive relationship between our countries, which on February 7 celebrated the 25th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. She also highlighted the value they attach to Cuba's cooperation with small developing island states in general and the Pacific in particular. Finally, she recognized Cuba's role in promoting peace, security and prosperity in the Latin American and Caribbean region.
