 New opportunities for trade with Cuba are highlighted in The Bahamas

Nassau, 31 May 2018.- With the participation of the Minister of Financial Services, Trade, Industry and Immigration, Honorable Brent Symonette, The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce Trade Seminar and Expo Fair was inaugurated in Nassau, the Bahamian capital under the title "Enhancing Trade Opportunities". The Minister referred to the interest aroused by Cuba, especially when it comes to the commercialization of agricultural products.

During her presentation, the Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara M. Vargas Walter highlighted the advantages of trade and investment in Cuba. She talked about the start of the trade between the inhabitants of the south of The Bahamas and Cuba, more than a century ago. Likewise, she announced the beginning of a direct maritime route between The Bahamas and Cuba, which will facilitate the increase of the existing commercial links. Finally, she extended an invitation to the participants and to all members of the Chamber of Commerce for the Cuba-Caribbean Business Forum to be held in Santiago de Cuba on 28 and 29 June, as well as for the 36th Havana International Fair from 29 October to 2 November.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba has signed Memoranda of Understanding with the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce, which has a national scope, as well as with the Chamber of Commerce of Grand Bahama, the second most important island of this Caribbean nation.
