Díli, February 11, 2026. Rector Dr. Jóviano António da Costa, accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Cooperation Affairs, the Director General of the Rector's Office, and his Secretary, received the Head of Diplomatic Mission, Alina Aldama, who was accompanied by Minister-Counselor Pablo Romero.
In this first meeting, the Cuban diplomat took the opportunity to introduce the Head of the Medical Brigade, Dr. Andrés Villar Behamonde, and the Director of the Higher School of Medicine, Dr. Diamela Henríquez Navarro. Explanations were also provided regarding the possibilities for cooperation that Cuba offers in the academic field. For his part, the Rector expressed his gratitude for the visit, explanations, and provisions offered by the Cuban side, which he stated would be taken into account as a way to expand collaboration between the two nations. He also expressed his appreciation for the support and training currently being provided to Timorese youth who have received scholarships to study in Cuba.
