New scholarships granted by the Government of Cuba to Barbadian nationals for the next Academic Year 2025-2026.
- Current Requirements for Undergraduates Courses
Foreign students benefitting from a Cuban study scholarship should be:
- Between 16 and 25 years old, (only for Undergraduates studies)
- A high school or pre-university graduate.
- Coming from a low- income family that cannot afford to pay for his/her studies.
Students must submit the following documents, in order to enroll in Cuban universities.
- An official copy of Undergraduate Degree, baccalaureate or equivalent level Certificate and Transcript of Grades.
- An original Health Certificate, including a negative HIV test and proof that the female students are not pregnant.
- Original Criminal Record Certificate.
- Birth Certificate and a copy translated into Spanish.
- Ten (10) 1x1 inch photos.
2. Current Requirements for Postgraduates Courses
Students must submit the following documents, in order to enroll in Cuban universities.
- Bachelor's degree Certificate and the transcript of grades.
- Original Health Certificate, including negative HIV test and proof of non-pregnancy for female students.
- Original Criminal Record Certificate.
- Birth Certificate and a copy translated into Spanish.
- Ten (10) 1x1 inch photos.
- Authentication Process
- Before submission to the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba by the Ministry of Educational Transformation, ALL documents must be duly authenticated by the ministries of Health, Education and Justice, as appropriate, as follows,
- The Secondary School/Pre- University Graduation Certificate, by the Ministry of Education.
- Undergraduate Degree, College or equivalent level Certificate and Transcript of Grades in addition to official copies of CXC/CAPE certificates OR Bachelor's degree Certificate and Transcript of Grades, by the Ministry of Education.
- The Health Certificate, by the Ministry of Health and Wellness
- Original Criminal Record Certificate, by Ministry of Home Affairs.
- The Birth´s Certificate, by Ministry of Home Affairs.
- All these documents must ALSO be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- ALL these documents MUST be officially translated into Spanish before their authentication by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados and the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba.
- ALL authenticated documents, including their official translations, will THEN be legalized by the Cuban Embassy, exempt from payment.
- The student will have to travel with his/her documentation and upon arrival in Cuba he/she will deliver it to his/her Study Center.
- Arrival of Selected Students.
- Students must arrive in Cuba 10 days before the course start date in September 2025. The specific day will be announced in due time.
- The route, time of departure and arrival in Cuba, as well as the name of the airline must be delivered 15 days in advance of arrival.

In order to be admitted to the music, dance and visual arts specialties of the Higher Institute of Arts, the applicants must have previous intermediate level studies in these specialties and must also take the corresponding entrance exam.
In the specific case of the Visual Arts specialty, students must bring a dossier containing a sample of their artistic work, containing a sample of his or her artistic work.
