News agency Prensa Latina and KPL sign cooperation agreements

Vientiane October 29, 2022, PL. The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Lao PDR, Mrs. Suansavanh Vignaket, received the President of the PRELA News Agency, Prensa Latina, Luis Enrique González Acosta, when she favorably assessed the collaboration agreement between the Prensa Latina agencies ( PL) and Kaosan Pathet Lao (KPL).

This agreement will allow the cooperation between these two important media to be deepened and will also contribute to strengthening the historical relations between Cuba and Laos, enabling the exchange of truthful information on the reality of our countries, she stressed.

Vignakhet said she felt honored and satisfied to receive the visit of the president of Prensa Latina, Luis Enrique González, to whom she confirmed that Laos never forgets the support provided by the island in the liberation struggle and that she continues to offer it. She also reiterated the support of the Government, the Popular Revolutionary Party (PPRL) and the Laotian people for Cuba's fight against the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States, which she - she assured - will always accompany.

The Laotian minister recalled her visit to Havana in 2019 and praised the tourist benefits of the island, and in particular the tours of different poles of the country and multi-destination trips, a modality that is not yet exploited in Laos, she pointed out.

Present at the meeting, the Cuban Ambassador in this capital, Enna Viant, described the agreement signed as strategic at a time when false news (fake news) and distorted realities try to gain media ground. In her opinion, this agreement is just one step on the road that will lead to deepening cooperation in the timely and truthful dissemination of the revolutionary processes through which both countries are going through – each with its own characteristics.

By thanking the Laotian Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism and her work teams for their welcome, González ratified the will to expand and strengthen cooperation between both agencies, as well as the desire to identify new areas to develop it. At the end of the meeting, González and the general director of KPL, Khampheuy Philapha, signed the bilateral collaboration agreement that gives continuity and deepens the links established by both information agencies at the end of the 1990s.
