Abuja, March 2nd, 2026. – Cuba received with profound gratitude a solidarity donation consisting of 100 mattresses and 55 kilograms of medicines, organized by members of the Nigeria-Cuba Solidarity Movement and friends of the Cuban people. Among those who played a prominent role were the renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, Dr. Ibrahim Wada, CEO of Nisa Premier Group, and representatives of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce. The donation is intended to support recovery efforts for those affected by Cyclone Melisa, which struck the eastern region of the country in October 2025.
This fraternal gesture constitutes a tangible expression of the historic commitment of the Nigerian people to Cuba and its Revolution. The supplies received will directly contribute to improving the living conditions of families impacted by the meteorological event.
The initiative forms part of the numerous actions promoted by friends of Cuba in Nigeria in support of the difficult situation currently facing the Island, further aggravated by the tightening of hostile policies and unilateral coercive measures imposed by the Government of the United States, the impact of which directly affects sensitive sectors such as energy, health, and food security.
This act confirms that the brotherhood between Africa and Cuba is not merely a shared memory of emancipatory struggles, but a living present of cooperation and mutual commitment.
Cuba reaffirms that, in the face of adversity, the response will always be greater unity, greater resilience, and greater international solidarity. The assistance received from Abuja stands as evidence that the conscience and dignity of peoples prevail over any attempt at economic asphyxiation or external pressure.
Solidarity cannot be blocked. Cuba lives and endures, accompanied by the sincere friendship of the noble Nigerian people.
