"Night Landscapes”: Exhibition of Cuban Art in Palmerston North

Palmerston North, October 13th, 2018. The exhibition "Night Landscapes" by the Cuban artist Analía Amaya was launched at the Central Library.

The work of the young artist is a recreation of nocturnal landscapes of different cities such as Havana, Santiago de Chile and Wellington. In her work, she experiments with different media such as installation, video-installation, video art and digital photograph. Lights, nature, landscape and everyday life are part of her explorations with a poetical and personal approach.

Her personal exhibitions are: Night Landscapes (Palmerston North City Library,2018), Concert of stars (12th Havana Biennial Art Exhibition, National Theater of Cuba, 2015), Landscapes (Co Gallery, Santiago, Chile, 2014), Light (La Casona Gallery, Havana, Cuba, 2009) and Aural spaces (Museum of Contemporary Art, Valdivia, Chile, 2007). She has also contributed to several group exhibitions, including Lost in Landscape, (Contemporary and Modern Art Museum of Trento and Rovereto, Italy, 2014); Silent Contemplated Variations (National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana, 2014), Citizens of the world: Cuba in Queens (The Queens Museum, New York, USA, 2013), Out of place: reflections on art, city and urbanism (National Museum of Fine Arts, Santiago, Chile, 2010).

The exhibition "Night Landscapes" is part of the Week of Spanish Language and Culture organized by Massey University with the support of the City Library of Palmerston North.

The exposition will be available until next November 2 on the ground floor of the Central Library. (Embacuba NZ)
