The Non-Aligned Movement and the Group of 77 and China at UNESCO demand the exclusion of Cuba from the unilateral list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism.
Paris, July 16, 2024. The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Group of 77 and China UNESCO Chapters demanded the exclusion of Cuba from the unilateral list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
Through a Joint Communiqué, widely circulated at this headquarters, the G77 and China and the NAM UNESCO Chapters expressed their support for the Declaration of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC), issued on June 14 in New York, which demands the withdrawal of Cuba from the aforementioned list and the lifting of all unilateral coercive measures against the Cuban people.
In the Communication, both groups, made up of 134 and 121 States, respectively, express their deep concern about the negative impact of Cuba's unjust permanence on the list, which aggravates the effects of the blockade imposed against the country for more than 60 years, and they also recognize the effects on all sectors of the country's life, particularly in the areas under the mandate of UNESCO.
The Communiqué was accompanied by the full text of the JCC Declaration of June 14.
