Oslo, Norway.- Last night the Cuba Friendship Association, Cubaforeningen i Norge, organized a welcoming and informative event for new members of the organization.
During the meeting, documentaries about Cuba were screened, as well as an audiovisual material illustrating the recent protest organized in front of the US embassy in Oslo, demanding the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Caribbean island.
The Charge d'Affaires a.i. Mario Alzugaray, was invited to offer an informative talk, dedicated to illustrating the history of Cuba, relations with the United States and the impact of economic sanctions. In this regard, he insisted that ignoring and trying to minimize the effects of the blockade is at least naive and in many cases an opportunistic and deceptive attitude.
Ciha Karakoc, president of Cubaforeningen i Norge, highlighted the principles that guide this organization, whose purpose is to actively support the Cuban Revolution in the fight to preserve the freedom and independence of the Cuban people by disseminating information on political conditions, economic and cultural activities in Cuba and promote understanding of Cuba's international participation. These objectives are promoted, among other actions, through the organization of meetings, study activities and trips, the dissemination of literature and the promotion of friendship between Norway and Cuba.
