Oslo, February 13, 2023. Odd-Jarl Gerhardsen, editor-in-chief of "Friheten", the newspaper of the Communist Party of Norway (NKP), was among the participants to the First International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Leftist Parties and Movements, that took place in Havana on February 10 and 11, convened by the magazine "Cuba Socialista", theoretical and political organ of the Communist Party of Cuba.
The almost one hundred delegates who took part in the event from 34 countries together with some 40 Cuban thinkers and academics approved by consensus an Action Plan and agreed to convene future editions in Caracas, in November 2023, and in Havana, in February 2024.
After the inauguration, which was in charge of Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, head of the Ideological Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCPCC), the Meeting was attended by the first secretary of the CCPCC and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez.
Díaz-Canel thanked all the delegates for their presence at the event. These are necessary meetings, he said, in order to coordinate actions and build consensus on how to face the challenges of our peoples.
During the meeting three workshops were held: "The imperialism and the new global geopolitical configuration", "Fidel Castro and international solidarity" and "Socialism and youth".
On Sunday the 12th, Odd-Jarl Gerhardsen and the rest of the delegates participated in other activities in the framework of the 31st Havana International Book Fair. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
