Oslo, February 6, 2024. The ambassador, Maité Rivero Torres, received Odd-Jarl Gerhardsen, editor-in-chief of "Friheten", the newspaper of the Communist Party of Norway (NKP), prior to his departure for Havana to take part in the II International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Left-wing Parties and Movements, which will take place from February 12 to 14.
Gerhardsen was present at the first edition, which was held last year also in the Cuban capital.
The Cuban diplomat thanked Gerhardsen, and through him the NKP, for the sustained and renewed interest in this important event, that is convened by Cuba Socialista, the theoretical and political magazine of the Communist Party of Cuba, in co-sponsorship with the Ñico Lopez University of the Party, Casa de las Americas, the Cuban chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity, and the Cuban newspapers Granma and Juventud Rebelde.
As in 2023, the meeting will take place in the context of the Havana International Book Fair, which will provide the possibility of interaction with prominent intellectuals from around the world who will be present at this great festival of literature and books. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
