Nota de Prensa: Embajadora cubana Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo presenta cartas credenciales al Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas.

New York, 23 January 2017. Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo presented credential letters today to the Secretary General of the United Nations, H.E. Mr. António Guterres, which accredit her as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cuba to the United Nations.

During the brief ceremony celebrated in a cordial and welcoming atmosphere, the Cuban diplomat reiterated to the Secretary General, Cuba’s commitment with the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter and with the current efforts of the Organization in favor of peace and development, including the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. 

Likewise, she referred to Cuba’s priorities in the international body, among them moving forward in the struggle to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against her nation.

Rodríguez Camejo, who is the first Cuban woman holding such high responsibility, previously held office as Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations Office in Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland. 

The Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal and Counselor Ángel Alejandro Castillo from the diplomatic Mission of the Caribbean island were part of the ceremony. (Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations)
