#NoToWar and #EndTheBlockade, once again present at another great Day of Solidarity with Cuba in Saint Lucia

Castries, June 6, 2026 - Members of the solidarity movement, Saint Lucian graduates in Cuba, Cuban residents, artists, and collaborators gathered this Saturday at Serenity Park in Castries for a moving and well-attended event expressing their love for Cuba. Also participating were the Ambassador of Venezuela, Leiff Escalona, and the Chargé d'Affaires of Mexico, Karla Ornelas.

During the remarks by the Master of Ceremonies, renowned journalist Earl Bousquet, and the religious invocation by Leonora Sargusingh, a member of the executive committee of the Friendship Association, the current situation in Cuba was described.

Marlene Alexander, president of the Saint Lucia-Cuba Friendship Association, recounted her experience during her recent visit to Cuba for May Day. He noted the strong global solidarity evident in the number of international delegations at the event and offered detailed information about the donations being processed and the one recently delivered to the municipality of Baraguá, Ciego de Avila province.

The Ambassador of Saint Lucia to Mexico and Venezuela, Peter Lansiquot, a graduate of a Cuban university, focused his speech on the fallacy of characterizing Cuba as an unusual and extraordinary threat to the United States and on Cuba's long-standing collaboration with the peoples of the world. He highlighted the achievements of Cuban science, even under difficult conditions, especially the vaccines to combat Covid-19 and other highly effective, proven medications, all 100% Cuban-made. He also read a message of solidarity sent by a Jamaican graduate of a Cuban university, who currently works as an Economics professor at a university in the United States.

Other speeches were given by Rawle Harvey, former president of the Saint Lucia-Cuba Humanistic Association, and Nick Jean Baptiste, a current member of the Association.

The artistic performances by the Calypso Take Over Tent Project and the members of the Cuban Medical Brigade on the island were highly appreciated.

Finally, the Cuban Ambassador, Yenielys Vilma Regueiferos Linares, provided an update on the economic, commercial, financial, and energy strangulation of the Cuban people; the unjust inclusion of Cuba on the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism; and the spurious and unfounded accusation against the Army General.

The event served as recognition of the government and people of Mexico for their unwavering solidarity with Cuba and for the support offered to CARICOM countries in serving as an intermediary for the delivery of humanitarian aid that CARICOM countries are organizing.

A special tribute was paid to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, the undefeated Commander-in-Chief, in commemoration of the centennial of his birth.
