Odalys Pérez Rodríguez, daughter of Wilfredo Pérez Pérez, Captain of Cubana Airlines Flight 455, a victim of the crime in Barbados, visits Barbados.

Odalys Pérez Rodríguez, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and daughter of Cubana de Aviación pilot Wilfredo Pérez Pérez, Captain of Cubana de Aviación Flight 455, is visiting Barbados at the invitation of the Barbados-Cuba Solidarity Association to carry out a program of activities commemorating the 49th anniversary of the terrorist attack on Cubana de Aviación Flight 455 on October 6, 1976.

This horrendous terrorist act, which claimed the lives of 73 people, is known in Cuban history as the Crime of Barbados, when the plane exploded in mid-flight and disappeared over Barbadian territorial waters.

As part of her visit, she held a meeting with members of the State Mission on October 5 at the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Barbados. During her exchange, she not only referred to the commemoration and what this horrendous terrorist act has meant for the Cuban people and for her personally, but also provided an update on the situation in the country following the tightening of the blockade with the implementation of the package of measures implemented by the Trump Administration. The meeting served as a platform to once again condemn the blockade imposed by the United States on the Cuban people and to demand Cuba's removal from the list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism.
