Omara Portuondo opens the Oslo World Music Festival 2022

Oslo, October 31, 2022. “You sing and one feels the voice of Cuba. Thank you for giving us that happiness”, the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, wrote on his Twitter account on October 29, on the occasion of the 92nd birthday of Omara Portuondo.

How true those words are! It was a great pride to share with Omara and enjoy her magnificent performances at the concert that opened the Oslo World Music Festival 2022.

Together with her group, the legendary Cuban singer delighted the public gathered at the Oslo Concert Hall with anthological songs from the Cuban songbook such as Dos Gardenias; Lágrimas Negras; Quizás, quizás, quizás, among others.

Omara Portuondo, who was born in Havana in 1930, is considered one of the great exponents of the traditional Cuban music and, in addition to her voice, her Cubanness has always identified her in each of her performances. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
