Opening of the parliamentary session by the President of Timor-Leste, Dr. José Ramos Horta, attended by Ambassador Alina Aldama

Dili, September 15, 2026. At the National Parliament building, its president, María Fernanda Lay, welcomed the attendees. The event also provided an opportunity for the country’s president, Dr. José Ramos-Horta, to acknowledge the work accomplished during the current legislative session and, at the same time, to bid farewell, as his term will end in the first half of 2027.

The solemn ceremony was attended, on behalf of Cuba, by the head of the State Mission, Alina Aldama, who had the opportunity to learn that among the achievements of the Timorese nation are the training of human resources and, in particular, the graduation of health professionals, areas in which Cuban cooperation has played a role.
