The Honourable Mia Mottley, President of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, received at its headquarters to international delegations attending the program activities commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Crime of Barbados. It was accompanied by MPs of his party, Edmund Hinkson and Trevor Prescod. Cuba attended by the hero Fernando Gonzalez, the family of the victims of terrorism, Camilo Rojo, Camila Valdes, Director of the Center for Caribbean Studies at the Casa de las Americas and Tania Parra, an official of ICAP, together with the Cuban Ambassador. HRE Caribbean Network was represented by the Barbadian lawyer David Comissiong, its coordinator, Cykiah Thomas, Jamaica, and Gerald Perreira, Guyana.
The meeting was fluid and very useful for the region due to the support expressed by the leaders of BLP not only the commemoration of the bombing of the Cubana airliner, reminiscent of a milestone to mark this part of the Caribbean with terrorist violence but the purpose of launching the global campaign for the UN to declare the 6 October as the International Day to Combat Terrorism.
