Opposition in Mauritius to the U.S. Blockade of Cuba

Port Louis, September 26, 2026 – The Mauritius-Cuba Friendship Association, in collaboration with the Lalit Mauritius party, held a demonstration outside the Rose Hill post office to express solidarity with Cuba and demand an end to the U.S. blockade against the island.

Participants in the demonstration in the capital's center honored the legacy of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, and Commander Ernesto Che Guevara.

They also expressed opposition to the new U.S. embassy in Mauritius while advocating for the establishment of a permanent Cuban diplomatic mission.
