Organisations of Cuba and Jamaica strengthen cooperation in the agricultural sector.

Kingston, 14 August 2026. A Memorandum of Understanding between the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) and the Marcus Garvey People’s Political Party (MGPPP) was signed this morning at the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica. Ambassador Tania López Larroque signed the document on behalf of the ANAP, whilst the MGPPP was represented by its President, Antwayne Campbell.

The agreement, aimed at strengthening ties between farmers affiliated to both organisations, offers opportunities for exchange in areas such as technical assistance and training, the sharing of knowledge and experience, education and capacity building. It also facilitates the implementation of joint projects related to the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, the protection of natural resources and the responsible and sustainable use of land.

The signing of the Memorandum forms part of the celebrations marking the centenary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, whose work was closely linked to the defence of the social and economic achievements secured by the Cuban peasantry.
