The numbers of those infected with COVID-19 have grown in Cuba, and they sink deep, especially when the deceased exceed one figure, and the next morning another one, and the digits become familiar faces, which sadden us.
However, in the country there is no room for sit-down arms, and while emphasizing the need for sanitary discipline, its scientific community created, tested, and already places the highest hopes on the shoulders of its people.
It was not one, but five vaccine candidates - one, already a vaccine - developed in the small archipelago, with scarce resources, criminally blocked, but with people of great values, talent and commitment to the social work of the Revolution.
Cuba's battle to immunize its entire population against the deadly virus advances unstoppable, from milestone to milestone, and every day adds new children who put their shoulder - and also their heart - to receive, more than a vaccine, hope for life , the strength of a country.
HOW IS VACCINATION ADVANCED IN CUBA?
• In May 3.4 million doses were delivered to the Ministry of Public Health; in June, 4.8, and in July it will be close to six million.
• Cuba exceeds the world average of the percentage of people who have received at least one dose, despite the difficulties that have arisen in the acquisition of supplies.
• It has the highest rate in the world of people vaccinated daily for every 100 inhabitants.
• At the end of August, around 60% of the population will be vaccinated with the complete scheme.
• By that date, 80% of our population will have at least one dose, either Soberana 02 or Abdala.
• The inhabitants of Havana must be fully immunized with the three doses in the month of July.
• Mass vaccination of children between the ages of three and 18 will begin in September.
• All Cubans will be vaccinated before the end of the year.
