Suva, July 3, 2026. – Cuban Ambassador to Fiji, Néstor Torres Olivera, held an official meeting with the Acting Secretary-General of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Secretariat, Esala Nayasi, at the organization’s headquarters.
During the meeting, Nayasi welcomed the Cuban ambassador and expressed his appreciation for Cuba’s contributions to the Pacific region. He particularly highlighted Cuba’s cooperation in the field of health, emphasizing the positive impact of its medical training and healthcare programs on the Forum’s member countries.
Cuba has been a member of the Pacific Islands Forum’s Dialogue Partners group since 2013. This meeting served as an opportunity to renew both parties’ commitment to continuing to collaborate closely on issues of shared interest and regional development, with the aim of strengthening the resilience and well-being of the Pacific island states.
