The Pan-African Congress Kenya pays official tribute to Fidel Castro on his 99th anniversary.
The statement reads:
“On this historic day, August 13, 2025, the Pan-African Congress Kenya, the Kenya Chapter of the Global Pan African Movement honors the indelible legacy of Comandante Fidel Castro Ruz a revolutionary titan whose unwavering solidarity with Africa remains unmatched. Castro was not merely Cuba’s leader; he was Africa’s brother-in-arms, a visionary who understood that the continent’s liberation was inseparable from global justice. His life embodied the essence of Pan-Africanism—not in words, but in blood, sacrifice, and unbreakable solidarity. When Africa called, Cuba answered—not with empty promises, but with soldiers, doctors, and educators who fought and died alongside liberation movements.
From Algeria’s anti-colonial struggle to Angola’s battle against apartheid, Castro’s Cuba stood firm, ensuring that Namibia, South Africa, and Mozambique could break free from oppression. Over 4,300 Cuban martyrs rest in African soil, a testament to a bond forged in revolution.
Beyond the battlefield, Cuba’s humanitarian internationalism reshaped Africa—training doctors, eradicating illiteracy, and offering refuge to freedom fighters. Nelson Mandela, upon his release, declared that Cuba’s victory in Angola "destroyed the myth of the invincibility of the white oppressor." Today, as we near the centenary of Castro’s birth, we reaffirm that Africa does not forget. The Pan-African Congress (Kenya Chapter) calls upon all African nations to honor this legacy by deepening ties with Cuba, demanding an end to the unjust U.S. blockade, and ensuring that future generations remember: Fidel Castro was not just Cuba’s hero—he was Africa’s. His spirit lives in every African child educated, every patient healed, and every revolutionary who still believes that "solidarity is the tenderness of the peoples.¡Hasta Siempre, Comandante"
